My Grandfather, Raymond Ferguson, passed away on June 10th, 2009. Today is his funeral. The past few days have been hard, and I've gone through them feeling like a zombie...just sort of numb. I have a hard time getting to sleep even though I am exhausted, and when I wake up I don't feel rested. I'm just kind of stunned, like I'm on autopilot. I imagine everyone else in the family feels that way too. I've never lost anyone close to me before this, so I'm not sure how to get through it. I imagine today will be the toughest day yet for all of us. I'm so thankful that I have such a big and loving family though - so far we've been getting through this together. Today will be te end though...it will be final. Even though as soon as I saw Gramp of Wednesday just after he had passed away, I knew his soul was gone. His body was just an empty shell. It didn't really look like him. I think in a way that made it easier for me to see him. I'm Christian, so I truly believe he's gone to Heaven. His suffering is done, and he's gone on. There are so many good times to remember too. He was such a goof! Always joking around and raising heck with us grandkids. Att he viewings yesterday we all shared stories about him, and I think that really helped. He's leaving behind quite a legacy. So many awesome stories that he's told us. I'm especially grateful to have Rob when it comes to that. Gramp told him stories that he had never told anyone else. Him and Rob would sit there for hours just talking. They were very much the same. So now Rob has a whole bunch of Gramp's stories, and he has a good memory, so they will live on.

Well, I guess I'd better go get showered and ready, and get Rob up to do the same. I imagine I'll post more about Gramp later, maybe some of his stoires. I'm working on a page in my art journal for him, so maybe I'll scan that in and post it when I get it done.

I love you Gramp. I hope you're with us in spirit today. We all love you and miss you very much.
I'm only 40 minutes away from being done! Yipee! I'm friggin tired. I still haven't adjusted from the NYC schedule back to my 6:30pm - 3am work schedule. Bleh.

Arty very much enjoyed having me home tonight. It took him until 9:30 to actually get out of bed and realize I was here. From then on out, I had to hold him. He got down a couple of times, but it wasn't long before he was back. He's mommy's little snugglebum. He was pretty upset when I went to NYC and left him for 5 days. He slept in my spot in the bed, right up against the pillow, and he moped around the house. When I got home, I came in the back door and yelled "Mommie's home!!!", and he came running full out. hehehhe So ya, back to tonight, I was holding him and he was asleep, when I had a call come in, so I started to pick him up to put him on the floor, and he clung right on to me, and his look said "Oh no Mommy! Please please don't put me down! We's snugglin'!" OMG, it was so cute. He's such a little baby with me. *sniffle*
I'm so irritated right now. I went to my Doctor's office for a prescription refill. I get there at 2:30, and sit in the waiting room. At 3:30, I'm pretty antsy, as I have to drive Rob to work for 4 so I can have the car as I'm going to Dee's tonight. So, I ask the receptionist if the Dr can just write me the prescription, as I'm in a rush. Now, with most doctors, you don't need to go in for refills, they will just call it into the pharmacy. Well, in New Brunswick, the government pays a doctor $10 for each appointment he has. So, my doctor, in a rebellious "stick it to the government" gesture, refuses to call in prescriptions - you have to go in to get them. Ok, all the power to you. But, I was there in the office, I'm sure they maked me on the list as being there, so just write me the effing prescription and let's go! So, back to the story, the receptionist comes back to me and says "The nurse is calling your name next". So, out she comes and in a room I go. The nurse, who I don't like anyways, with her attitude and her drawn on lips since she doesn't have any real lips, is all "oh, so you're late for work?" Not wanting to bother with the minor details, like it's Rob who will be late and not me, I jsut said "Yes, I need to go!". She just says "Well he'll be in to see you soon." HALF AN HOUR LATER!!!! Can you believe it?!?!? So, Rob's gone to work by that time, and I have to walk home in the friggin cold, with just a t-shirt on. Then, thank god Dee insisted her and Greg come pick me up, because I would have had to have caught a bus, gone downtown and picked my car, then came back here to get all my stuff i"m bringing to Dee's for crafting, then goen to Dee's. Holy hell. Just write me the effin prescription. I should have taken the prescription from him when I finally did get it, made an origami ninja star out of it, then sad in my best over-dubbed japanese-accented voice "Now, you will pay! I will make ninja star go up our bum! Many ouches!"

........O.O............

I'm so greatful that I only had to work 2 days after I came back from New York before I got a couple of days off. In 45 minutes, it's my weekend (which consists of Monday and Tuesday). I'm so tired. *YAWN* I'm recovering pretty well from the trip - the blister on the bottom of my foot is attempting to heal, and I'm not too sore. I did go for a walk this morning in Irishtown Nature Park though, and while it was a short walk, I was still sore and hurting afterwards. God, these poor old bones and muscles. BUT, at least I got back out there and walked. Mr. 18-year-old-full-of-piss-and-vinegar apparantly spent the whole day in bed. LOL

Thank you to everyone who whised me happy birthday on FaceBook. I'm currently in the process of trying to thank all of you personally, but just incase I don't get to everyone, I wanted to say thanks here too. :) I had the best birthday I have ever had in my 31 years. Yep, 31. *gag* shhhhh, don't tell anyone, k?

So, keeping with the whole "holy eff I am out of shape as I learned when I walked around NYC for a week and it almost killed me", tomorrow I'm goign back to Irishtown park with Sherry (aka, my sister-in-law), and Jemma. It'll be a girl's morning out! :) I'm sure I'll have no problem gettign so sleep tonight when I get home, so I should be asleep by 4am, and hopefully up by 10am. I should be bright-eyed and busy-tailed at 10am tomorrow morning. I'll definately be making a coffee stop!

So I got back last night from New York City. My friend Nick and I went for our birthdays (mine the 13th and his the 16th). I was so happy to be back in the city, after being away for over 7 years. NYC is in my blood, I feel like that's where I belong, that I could live there for the rest of my life and be so amazed by the City every single day. So, anyways, I had a lot of fun. I got to go to the Guggenheim for the first time, and while I didn't get to see a painting by my favorite artist, Franz Marc, because the museum was under renovation, so some exhibits were closed, we did see some good paintings. Picasso, Van Gogh, Renoir (another favorite of mine), Cezanne, etc. Three of the floors were a photography exhibit of an american photographer, Catherine Opie, and honesty, her photos for the most part sucked. There were 2 series that were good, in one room, a line of continuing photos, on one was a beach, entitled Surfers, and the other was an ice field with fishing shantys, entitled Icehouses. They were huge photos, and made for a striking display. As for the rest of her pics, I foudn them meidocre, and the whole of the rest of her exhibit should have been named after one of my favorite games, Dude or Chick? :)

We found a fantastic little plaza on the banks of the Hudson, behind the World Financial Center, where there were restaurants with a patio, shops, and a small marina. We went back the next night to have dinner at PJ Clarkes, and it was superb. All the food in the City was fabulous of course. Our last night there, we went to Smith & Wollensky's, one of NYC's best steakhouses. I <3 steak. It was all good, and they also had the best damn raisin bread I have ever had. It was also great to be there with all the New Yorkers too. Although the table full of guys behind us I swear were from Boston. They were a rowdy bunch.

It was great to take the subway again. And going for a taxi ride, and walking through Central Park, and down 5th Ave.

I'm posting pics very soon to my Flickr account and FaceBook, so stay tuned.
